Ted Laurier Place LTC Home Emerges in Cornwall's West-End

Owners of Sandfield Place, Stephanie and David Kinnear, celebrated the groundbreaking of Ted Laurier Place in Cornwall's western region on September 14, 2023.

This new establishment, located at 950 Tollgate Rd., will serve as the successor to Sandfield Place, offering 128 long-term care beds, with 75 new and 53 upgraded ones.

David Kinnear expressed his enthusiasm, highlighting the significance of this venture for their third-generation family business.

Nolan Quinn, the SDSG MPP, praised the Kinnears for their dedication to residents at Sandfield Place. He informed attendees that Ted Laurier Place, a single-story structure, is set to welcome residents by late 2025. The facility will feature multiple courtyards, pathways, and lounges accommodating up to 32 individuals.

John Jordan, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston, acknowledged the Kinnears' perseverance in realizing this project. He emphasized the provincial government's evolving perspective on long-term care, aiming to create more homely environments rather than institutional ones. Jordan mentioned the government's goal to construct 30,000 LTC beds in the upcoming decade, with a broader vision of enabling individuals to remain in their homes safely.

The name "Ted Laurier Place" holds sentimental value. It merges the names of two long-standing Sandfield Place residents. Ted, who moved in 1991, will transition to the new facility, while Laurier, who arrived in 1992, sadly passed away last December.

David Kinnear, during the event, reiterated their commitment to resident care, expressing hope to carry forward the legacy from Sandfield Place to Ted Laurier Place.
